Campus to learn technologies and knowledge for development of the 21st century, based on partnership and cooperation
Hibikino Campus (Faculty of Environmental Engineering) is located in Kitakyushu Science and Research Park, which also houses many other institutes, including Kyushu Institute of Technology, Waseda University's graduate schools and research center and Cranfield University Japan Center of Great Britain. Joint research programs and academic exchange between professors and students are promoted among these institutes.
The Park has encouraged the sharing of state-of-the-art facilities between several institutes, to facilitate development of competent human resources. Such efforts have provided students with highly exciting and significant learning environments.
The Campus is expected to contribute to the strong advancement of environmental and information technologies that will serve as a basis for new industries of the 21st century.

Main Tower
Main Tower
The 200-meter wide, four-story building comprises the North Wing, South Wing and Special Experiment Wing. The Faculty of Environmental Engineering has proactively introduced systems to achieve optimal use of natural energies such as sunlight, wind and geothermal energy, and to save water and energy used in the building, in accordance with its objective of reducing environmental load. Several measures have been implemented by which the tower saves electricity and energy used for air-conditioning. For example, the faculty building has a roofless patio called "hikari niwa (sunlight garden)" so that the building has more windows and thereby greater amounts of sunlight and wind are allowed into the building, while adjusting the amounts of light and heat using blinds and eaves. The building also has a system for circulating basement-cooled air throughout the building, and a "solar chimney" for ventilation using natural wind. There are also 865 solar cell panels on the rooftop of the North Wing, to generate electric power.

Instrumentation Center, The University of Kitakyushu
The Center has more than 40 units of sophisticated and advanced equipment to measure and analyze various materials and phenomena. Such equipment is fully used to support education and research activities.

Instrumentation
Special Experiment Ward, The University of Kitakyushu
In these facilities, located apart from other buildings, experiments and research work that require large equipment or generate loud noises or vibrations are conducted.

Environmental Energy Center
Located in Kitakyushu Science and Research Park, the Hibikino Campus employs environmentally friendly methods to supply energy and water. In the center, the main facility for such clean utility services, power generation with less CO2 emissions and water purification processes are conducted.

 Environmental Energy Center
Dormitory for International Students
The Hall offers quality rooms at reasonable prices to support the living and research work of foreign students and provide them with opportunities for communicating with others, so as to facilitate exchanges among students as well as between students and the public.
