Fields of study
Giving emphasis to connectivity with undergraduate-level study, the Master’s Programs adopt an interdisciplinary, integrative approach to explore problems arising in regional society. We aim to produce personnel, some of whom will go on to our PhD Program, with the depth of insight and breadth of perspective demanded in today’s knowledge-based society, as well as professionals able to apply their advanced specialist skills in spheres such as public affairs and business.
Master’s Program in Economics
Nurturing personnel to engage in practical research on regional economic and industrial policy
This Program nurtures personnel with the depth of insight and breadth of perspective required for theoretical and practical development of regional economic and industrial policy founded on sound comprehension of trends in industrial society both within and beyond Japan, as well as high-level specialists able to apply such skills to work in spheres such as public affairs and business. Perspectives from economics and business management form the basis of education and research that addresses the issues facing regional societies today.
Master’s Program in Human Relations and Community Studies
Applying research on human behavior to regenerate local communities
Integrating a variety of interdisciplinary fields of academic endeavor concerned with human relations, this program offers specialist recurrent education to adults seeking high-level professional skills to contribute to community regeneration. Sociology and social welfare studies approaches inform an examination of problems in human society currently emerging in regional contexts. The Program includes basic research on human behavior in communities, applied research and field work.
Master’s Program in Language and Culture
Imparting the skills for success in English- and Chinese-speaking societies
This Program cultivates both professionals and individuals with profound insights and broad perspectives, developing their specialist knowledge and skills in the fields of language and culture. Scholarly approaches to language and culture accumulated through the humanities form the basis of a curriculum which emphasizes the development of intercultural understanding and language proficiency. Students will obtain the expertise required to assume active roles in the international community, particularly in English-speaking and Chinese-speaking environments.
Master’s Program in East-Asian and International Studies
Fostering internationalists for the ‘East-Asian Era’
This Program enhances students’ understanding of the rapidly globalizing world around them, preparing them for careers as high-level specialists and researchers in the international arena and particularly in East Asia. The Program draws on a range of scholarly approaches developed in the humanities and social sciences to offer interdisciplinary education and research addressing political, economic, historical and cultural aspects of international and regional society.
